RADIO HOST PLAYS RACE CARD ON VOTER ID BILL

Pushing us back to a time "when blacks couldn't vote"

On March 14, 2012, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett signed a voter ID bill requiring voters to show a photo ID to vote. Considering I need a photo ID to buy Claritin D, my allergy medicine, this bill seems reasonable to combat voter fraud.

In an audio clip sent to THREATCORE PROJECT, a syndicated radio host which aired at WRNB [100.3 'RNBPHILLY'] unfortunately used the PA voter ID bill to fuel the racial divide. The radio host states that the bill is pushing us back to a time "when blacks couldn't vote." The listener, who quickly pulled out a cell phone and recorded this clip was sharp enough to discover something suspicious.  Twelve seconds after the radio host made his racial comment, he takes a call from a woman who explains that the public can comment before the bill is passed, or start the appeal process afterwards.

Listen for yourself here.

This is clearly an attempt at inciting anger among the listeners amid a false pretense that the bill is unconstitutional and racist. The audio shows how the plot is expertly delivered.  Listeners are first baited and angered by driving a false statement, followed by a caller voicing an opinion based on these false impressions. The scheme aired Thursday March 15, 2012 at 7:20am – conveniently the peak time for FM radio listeners.

There is nothing remotely racial about the PA voter ID bill. Get the facts. Read the bill.

The host mentions voter fraud in PA is "small".  In reality, ANY voter fraud is a big issue.  This is not a small issue and further proves that people today are tuned in and listening.  The days of a comment on FM radio being here and gone are over. Keep the audio and video clips coming.  We're watching and listening.
