PHILADELPHIA - Ed Rendell(D), former Pennsylvania Governor and Democratic National Committee Chairman, eyes the takeover of PHILADELPHIA MEDIA NETWORK, an internet and print media company - raising concerns of further media bias. Rendell is a columnist at PHILLY.COM and has recently denied spiking news stories.

The Rendell takeover would include PHILLY.COM, THE INQUIRER, and PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS.

Behind the scenes...Sources close to the situation tell THREATCORE PROJECT that a WTXF[FOX29] executive was approached by Mayor Nutter(D), in what is likely an effort to quell the tone of developments as the story develops.

Friends in high places: THREATCORE PROJECT has learned WTXF news director and VP Steve Schwaid, attended a closed door meeting with Mayor Nutter in Philadelphia City Hall...

...This development comes only one day after WTXF is reported to be withholding a 6-month-old video of Mayor Nutter spanking a woman's back side at a bowling alley. News of the video surfacing initiated the meeting and resulted in the killing of the story. One journalist within FOX29, who's name is being withheld, is outraged over the burying of the video.

Schwaid was named VP and News Director in July 2011.

This is a developing story...

UPDATE: Nine days following the publication of this report, Rendell no longer eyes takeover...
