THREATCORE PROJECT has learned that the Inspector General, for the Department of Justice has been performing its own investigation into 'Operation Fast and Furious' and will be releasing a series of reports over a period of a "number of weeks".

A "series of reports" coming...

Unlike a report released 7/31/2012 which addressed the ATF side of the operation - and cited 5 ATF agents, a report is soon to be released addressing the "overall performance of the Department of Justice, itself." The report will focus on the non-ATF side of the Justice Department, but rather the DOJ itself. The report will highlight decision making within the DOJ and more importantly, who is responsible -- within the DOJ.

Last month, the House voted on two contempt citations (civil contempt and criminal contempt) against the Attorney General. Both received bipartisan support with 17 democrats supporting the criminal contempt citation and 21 democrats supporting the criminal contempt citation.

Update: The next step...

Around the same time frame of the new reports to come out, the House will ask a federal judge to compel the DOJ to produce the documents, in which the Attorney General has refused to hand over to the House Oversight Committee.

The legal filing will be happening "very shortly".

The federal judge will decide whether the DOJ has not responded properly to the House committee - and to force the production of the withheld documents.
